A veteran trial attorney with more than four decades of experience in domestic and international commercial business litigation and arbitration, Willie Wood is a Senior Partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP in Texas. He has been with Pillsbury since 2022, primarily focusing on defending and prosecuting matters connected to the energy industry. Attorney Willie Wood has prosecuted and defended claims involving common law, statutory fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference, breach of contract, and antitrust, among state and federal causes of action.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Wood has represented domestic and international energy companies owning oil and gas and other energy project interests in exploration and development and power generation activities in numerous countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Offshore South China Sea, Colombia, Ecuador, Equitorial Guinea, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, Oman, Syria, Nigeria, and Equatorial Guinea.
Before joining Pillsbury, Mr. Wood was a Senior Partner at Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP. He spent 35 years with the firm (previously known as Fulbright & Jaworski) and was part of its 14-member Global Supervisory Board, US Partnership Committee, US Policy Committee, and US Partner Admissions and Compensation Committee. He has received several professional awards and recognitions, including Best Lawyers' 2022 “Lawyer of the Year” designation in the oil and gas category.
Mr. Wood holds a juris doctor degree from the University of Houston Law Center where he was Associate Editor of the Houston Law Review and a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University.
